Most of us have been introduced to the concept of a mind-body-soul connection.   When I hear this it gently reminds me to take care of myself.

With the busy summer months ahead it can be easy to neglect personal care.  In other words, be attentive to the whispers of your soul and state of your mind.

Self-care isn’t a one-time fix approach, it’s a continuous repetition of habits which provide your mind and soul with soothing activities and results.

An active mind and active soul are signs of youthfulness and vitality.  But reaching this state isn’t always easy, it can be perplexing and overwhelming.

Here are some useful tips to achieving an active mind and active soul for years to come:

Active Mind:

  1. Never Stop Learning

Is there something you have always wanted to know about?  A skill, a set of knowledge or perhaps a hobby?  Challenge yourself weekly to consume fresh information to engage with.

  1. Believe in Yourself

No matter what you do or what life phase you’re in, be sure to believe in yourself.  If you don’t, who else will?  A strong belief in yourself will boost confidence and your overall well-being.

  1. Be Aware of all of your senses

Being in tune with your senses allows you to experience your surroundings in a new way.  When you have a moment for pause, take in the sounds, smells and what you are seeing in the present moment.

Active Soul:

  1. Make a list of 20 things you love

Don’t put too much thought into this, take out a sheet of paper and write down all the things you love.  Remind yourself of what you love and if you can, start doing more of these things.

  1. Get rooted with nature

Spending time in nature can help put life into perspective and quiet the mind.

  1. Try meditation or your version of it

Meditation unlocks the gems buried deep within your soul.  Find your version that works for you.

Create an active mind-soul connection this summer with efforts of vigorous restoration for your life.
